Professional Development and Training

To prepare students to compete in a global society, teachers need both the tools of the 21st century and the professional development to use those tools. Teacher Centers provide Verizon Thinkfinity, Intel and interactive whiteboard training. Together, these training opportunities help teachers empower their students with the skills and strategies necessary to keep America competitive.

Intel® Teach Essentials
This course provides teachers with a foundation of skills to fully integrate technology into existing classroom curricula for student-centered learning. Teachers learn to use backwards curriculum design, ask Essential Questions that promote higher-order thinking and use technology to create standards-aligned Unit Plans. Some technologies explored in this course include Microsoft Office, Internet browsers, blogs, wikis, Google Docs, etc.

Intel® Teach Thinking with Technology
Building on intermediate technology integration skills, this course prepares teachers to engage students in higher-order thinking skills and 21st Century skills using a set of online thinking tools while creating a standards-based Unit Plan. These online tools include Visual Ranking, Seeing Reason, and Showing Evidence.

Intel® Teach Leadership Forum
A course for Administrators
The Intel® Teach Leadership Forum provides face-to-face professional development focusing on the importance of leadership in promoting, supporting, and modeling the use of technology in instruction. Through the forum, participants explore relevant research and behaviors related to supporting effective technology integration and associated professional development. Administrators will create a clear outline and action plan after leaving the forum.

Thinkfinity
“Thinkfinity” is a nonprofit consortium of eleven of the nation's premier educational organizations and Verizon, providing free online K-12 resources to the educational community, students and parents. Previously known as MarcoPolo, the new site includes the Verizon Literacy Network, foreign language resources, and services to families and community-based organizations for after-school programming.

Content partners develop and deliver the highest quality classroom resources on the Internet, with materials on standards-based lesson plans, student materials, reviewed Web resources, and interactive tools in all content areas. Content partners include: the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the International Reading Association, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, National Center for Family Literacy, National Council on Economic Education, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Council of Teachers of English, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Geographic Society, ProLiteracy Worldwide, and the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.

* Share your presentations, and present anywhere. Use Package for CD in PowerPoint 2003* to copy presentations onto a CD, which can be carried easily between home and school. Purchase a Dell Bundle and receive a Single-use coupon for 10% off on electronics and accessories from Dell

Once TPP members purchase a Dell Package, they simply need to contact their Teacher Center to obtain an additional 10% off coupon for Dell electronics and accessories (TVs, digital cameras, and so on). The teacher must provide the Director with the Dell order number. The coupon is good for up to 5 items, not already discounted. The coupon are not combinable with any other offers or discounts.

Dedicated Dell account team

Dell has set up a unique, dedicated account team to assist TPP members. Customers will have access to personal assistance so they will obtain faster problem resolution. Dell also has a dedicated program manager available to ensure a successful program.

Service

For TPP members, Dell is providing three years of next-business-day, onsite support. If a system needs hardware replacement, Dell will dispatch a technician directly to the customer’s location. Dell is also offering Complete Care, an accidental damage policy that provides replacement units to customers who accidentally damage their system. Complete Care does not cover fire, theft, or intentional damage.
